# Ethical thoughts on animal cruelty as a form of artistic expression This is a complex issue involving artistic freedom and animal ethics. From my point of view, animal cruelty should not be recognized as a legal or ethical form of artistic expression for the following reasons： ## Ethical boundaries Although artistic expression should enjoy considerable freedom, this freedom should not be above basic ethical principles. Behaviors that cause pain and harm, no matter how "artistic" their intentions are, are difficult to defend from a moral point of view. ## Legal protection Most modern societies have laws to protect animals from abuse, which reflects the social consensus on animal welfare. Artistic creation should also be carried out within these legal frameworks. ## Express substitution Any concept or emotion that an artist wants to convey has expressions that do not need to actually harm life, such as simulation, metaphor, digital technology, etc. Art can indeed challenge conventions and explore taboos, but this challenge should not come at the cost of the pain of innocent lives.
