Dialects are not necessarily less formal than the standard language. Dialects are natural variations of language with their own unique grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, reflecting the language habits of a particular region, community or culture. In some cases, dialects may be considered less formal than the standard language because the standard language is usually the language form used in official occasions, education systems and the media, which gives them a certain authority and unified status.
